Pubs in the parish.
The parish has two pubs within its borders both of which are close to its boundary and there is a third just beyond its boundary.
Heading south towards Ashcott lies the Railway Inn which is located in a place known as Ashcott Corner. The Meare Parish boundary goes up to the old railway line and the pub sits just inside next to where the old Ashcott Railway Sation used to be.
The pub hosts many live bands and events including the annual steam engine rally known as the 'Rev Up'.
At the edge of Westhay, just before the bridge over the River Brue, lies The Bird in Hand pub.
It has a projector room with seating and hosts the Westhay Film Club screenings.
Also, just beyond the border of the parish of Meare and a couple of hundred metres into the parish of Godney you can find The Sheppey Inn.
The next closest pubs are to be found in Ashcott, Burtle, Catcott, Edington, Wedmore and Wookey.
